Gov. Ayedatiwa Orders Immediate Flood Intervention in Okitipupa After Ikale Heritage TV Report

The Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Dr. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, has demonstrated his administration’s commitment to the welfare of the people by ordering an immediate intervention in the flood-ravaged areas of Okitipupa Local Government after watching a report aired by Ikale Heritage TV.
The report, published on 29 July 2026, highlighted the devastating impact of heavy rainfall on several areas of Okitipupa, where homes were submerged and residents appealed to the state government for urgent assistance.
In a swift response, the Governor, through his Senior Special Assistant on Ecological and Erosion Control, Engr. Ebijimi Elisha Ayoleyi, dispatched a delegation to the affected areas on 30 July 2026 to assess the situation and begin immediate intervention.
Addressing residents during the inspection, Engr. Ebijimi conveyed Governor Ayedatiwa’s heartfelt sympathy to families affected by the flood and assured them that the government had directed the immediate deployment of workers to provide emergency intervention and address the environmental challenges responsible for the flooding.
The delegation visited OMAWA Street, Aja Akinnehin Quarters, and Chief Omotola Emaye Street, where they inspected damaged homes, blocked drainage channels, and other flood-affected areas.
Residents of OMAWA Street expressed gratitude to Governor Ayedatiwa for his prompt response, describing him as a compassionate leader who listens to the concerns of the people and acts without delay. Many noted that the Governor’s intervention came less than 24 hours after the flood report was aired by Ikale Heritage TV.
Community leaders and residents also commended the role of Ikale Heritage TV in bringing the situation to the attention of the state government, saying the timely report contributed to the rapid response.
The affected people appealed to the Ondo State Government to complement the emergency intervention with permanent drainage and erosion control projects to prevent future flooding and protect lives and property.
