‎18 MONTHS OF UNPRECEDENTED IMPACT IN IRELE LGA: AKINFE’S GIANT STRIDES AT A GLANCE

‎The administration of the Executive Chairman of Irele Local Government, Hon. (Deacon) Olajide Akinfe, has highlighted what it describes as significant achievements recorded within its first 18 months in office.

‎According to a statement by Aro Olorunyomi Victor, Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman, Irele Local Government, obtained by Ikale Heritage TV, the administration has recorded interventions across security, education, infrastructure, youth empowerment, healthcare, social welfare and other critical sectors.

‎The statement said the six-point Action Plans unveiled ahead of Akinfe’s election in early 2025 were designed in alignment with the OUR EASE Agenda of Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.

‎The Action Plans, according to the statement, focused on Security; Education; Infrastructure; Youth Empowerment and Job Creation; Health and Social Welfare; and Transparency and Accountability.

‎Upon assumption of office on February 17, 2025, Akinfe reportedly described his campaign promises as a “covenant of service” to the people, pledging to pursue inclusive governance and sustainable development.

‎ KEY AREAS OF IMPACT

‎The administration listed several projects and interventions carried out across the ten wards of Irele Local Government.

‎Among them are the facilitation of employment opportunities for youths, procurement of seven utility and official vehicles, complete renovation of the Council Secretariat, establishment of an Amotekun Market Beat at Ode-Irele Market and the construction of market stores at Irele, Ajagba and Ode-Iyansan.

‎In education, the administration reported two rounds of bursary disbursements to indigenous students in higher institutions through NAILGOS, amounting to ₦1.5 million and ₦2 million respectively.

‎It also listed the distribution of books to public primary and secondary schools, presentation of trophies during Children’s Day celebrations and distribution of sanitary pads to female secondary school students to promote menstrual hygiene and school attendance.

 

‎On youth and women empowerment, the administration reported ₦5 million each for the empowerment of 100 youths and 100 women across the ten wards.

‎The statement also highlighted monthly financial empowerment for elderly residents, with ₦66 million reportedly disbursed so far, alongside the distribution of rice to selected women and fertilizers to farmers.

‎INFRASTRUCTURE AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

‎According to the report, the administration has undertaken road rehabilitation, asphalt laying on damaged roads, construction of speed breakers and the construction of a reinforced concrete culvert at Oke-Oloro Street, Ajagba.

‎It also reported the construction of a befitting Corpers’ Lodge at Ode-Irele, renovation and furnishing of government offices, furnishing of legislative offices and the presentation of Toyota Hiace buses to the Legislative Council and NULGE.

‎Other interventions include desilting and clearing of drainages, provision of medical supplies and insecticide-treated nets to health facilities, as well as measures aimed at strengthening security on the waterways.

‎The administration further reported support for veterans and families of fallen heroes, empowerment of a constituent with a brand-new Qlink motorcycle, and the provision of food and clothing materials to cushion the impact of the removal of fuel subsidy.

‎ PROJECTS LINED UP

‎Looking ahead, the Akinfe administration has listed additional projects billed for commencement or completion.

‎They include the renovation of the dilapidated administrative upstairs at the Council Secretariat, construction of open market stores at Akotogbo, construction of Omi Community Hall, construction/renovation of Barogbo Community Primary School, construction of Irele Shopping Mall, renovation of Ajagba Town Hall and renovation of Irele Civic Centre, among others.

‎The Chief Press Secretary stated that the achievements recorded so far demonstrate Akinfe’s grassroots experience, administrative competence and commitment to people-oriented governance.

‎The statement further argued that consolidating the gains of the administration and ensuring continuity of purposeful leadership would be important to achieving greater development across Irele Local Government.
